"Clearly for us, it’s all about the mentorship. The connections, being able to go into the right level of detail, and having confirmation and guidance from the mentors help us keep the right direction for the business and is absolutely essential for us.”

From the very beginning Nicolas Chaumartin’s (CEO of Anchor Analytics) objective was clear: to leverage data to create meaningful insights. His interest in data analytics was shared by Julien Mayeur (CTO of Anchor Analytics), the former CTO of AXSMarine. Their conversations soon revealed a common vision of simplifying the complex maritime and logistics sector and introduce more powerful analytics tools to the industry. Nicolas and Julien saw immense potential in the maritime and logistics space. With Julien moving to Laguna from Europe and Nicolas residing in Torrance, their personal and professional goals began to align. Both were motivated by the improved quality of life in the broader Los Angeles area and the prospect of founding a business in a thriving market. Their vision was clear, and they were eager to make an impact. Nina, a colleague of Nicolas with a strong background in logistics and a fondness for San Pedro, joined their team not long after. Her enthusiasm and expertise were the perfect match for their budding venture. Thus, Anchor Analytics was born, and San Pedro became a hub for their company to grow.

The Port of Los Angeles, the largest port in North America, was a natural asset for their venture. It provided access to a massive operation and numerous opportunities. Through their network and LinkedIn, they identified Ann Carpenter, CEO of Braid Theory. Braid Theory is a vertically integrated venture advisory in the blue economy sector that aligned perfectly with their goals. After meeting Ann in San Pedro, the team found Braid Theory's value proposition compelling. The connections, mentorship, and access to the industry provided by Braid Theory through the LA Blue Accelerator were exactly what they needed. After attending Braid Theory’s tech showcase IGNITE22 in May of 2024, Anchor Analytics saw how the waterfront location provided by AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles and Braid Theory’s co-working space within offered an ideal environment to further develop their business.

The advisory services and connections offered by Braid Theory have been instrumental in their success. As Nicolas explained,

"Clearly for us, it’s all about the mentorship. The connections, being able to go into the right level of detail, and having confirmation and guidance from the
mentors help us keep the right direction for the business and is absolutely essential for us”.

Nicolas, Julien, and Nina's journey is a testament to the power of collaboration, the importance of mentorship, and the impact of strategic connections. With the support of Braid Theory and their unwavering dedication, they are poised to make a significant impact in the maritime analytics industry. Success is not just about reaching the destination; it’s about the journey, the lessons learned, and the relationships built along the way. For the Anchor Analytics team the journey has just begun, and the future holds limitless possibilities.
