What types of startups are you looking for?
We are looking for engineering and science led startups with applications in all areas of the sustainable blue economy and the tech should be at TRL 4-7.
What industries do you focus on within the Blue Economy?

We focus on all areas of the blue economy, leveraging our established expertise and proven success across the industry. Within the blue economy, we have a particular interest in decarbonization of shipping and goods movement, coastal resilience, ocean energy, kelp aquaculture, and ocean observation among other key areas. 

What is the application deadline for the programs?
The application deadline for the LA Blue Fall program is September 4, 2024. The Springboard and Blue Future Incubator applications are ongoing.
When does the program begin?
LA Blue program starts the week of September 15, 2024.
What are the key areas of focus for the Accelerator program?
The program concentrates on three key aspects of commercialization: building capability, capacity, and intellectual capital. In addition to curriculum topics like business model canvas and product/market fit, customer discovery, value proposition, and go-to-market strategy, a range of other critical areas will also be covered.
How is the program structured?
During the 12-week program, teams will engage in weekly interactive webinars with related assignments, one-on-one meetings with their assigned advisor, in-person and virtual office hours with industry experts, stakeholder introductions for customer discovery, access to co-working space, and more.
What kind of financial support is available?
Braid Theory does not provide direct seed funding.
Do you take equity?
No, our Accelerator and Incubator programs are free of charge.
Are the teams required to move to Los Angeles?
We love LA (and our favorite neighborhood, San Pedro) and we think you will too! However, it's not a requirement for you to move here to be in our programs. For LA Blue and Blue Futures Incubator, we do require that you have the intent to build and grow your business here in Los Angeles.

The program is offered at Braid Theory’s co-working space, Braid Space, at AltaSea at The Port of Los Angeles. To be eligible for the Blue Future Incubator, companies must be ready to grow their businesses and create jobs in the city of Los Angeles.
